Saturday March 10 I get an email in the morning from a co-member that he had heard we are getting a game up here at Carrara on Saturday. It will the final week of the preseason practice matches, and the last hit out for many of the guys. Quickly, I make some calls, and get confirmation form the Southport Sharks that this is in fact happening. I release am email to our members to get an idea of interest, and within an hour I get a call from another member who works for Velocity Sports that the two organisations should merge for this weeks function and get something happening. The rest is history, and it was a great success. In less than a week we put on a show that was quite sensational.

About 100 people showed up for what was an entertaining afternoon off hot sausages, cold beer and a talk from Neil Balme that went for an hour or so.

Neil discussed everything that is happening at the club including their trip to Arizona, player's positions for the year, Harry O'Brien's promotion (A Qld Magpies Scoop), and how he thought a second club would not work on the Gold Coast. He also took questions from the masses, and was friendly and courteous in everything he did.

The guys at Velocity Sports also helped us with the purchase of tickets to the game. Even though we lost the game it was a great opportunity to watch our guys play, and our first chance to see "Daisy" Thomas show us his stuff. He was BOG until a cruel blow from Bradshaw had him taken from the field. He can back on but was not as influential.

It was great opportunities for the supporters club to let those around know of our existence. Before the game we handed out key rings, stickers and information sheets on the QLd Magpies. Letting people know we are here and what we do, will help us grow, and make us a bigger group in the future. We managed to join up some extra members on the day, and hope in the future, even more will join.
